Once upon a time a cave man got tired of living in a cave and he wanted to create some shelter for him and his family and collection of dinosaur bones. He decided to build a box to live in and to keep his family and his possessions safe in. After he finished building the box he realized he did not have a way to get in or out of it so he cut a hole in one side and he could come and go when he wanted, but there was one problem, so could everyone else. Faced with a dilemma this smart cave man allowed the situation to foster advancement and he created the first set of doors.
This may sound kind of a simplistic view of what must have occurred but certainly it is not too far from the truth. At some point man decided there was a need for doors.
